GAI launches new guide to the CE to UKCA marking transition

The upcoming change from CE marking to UKCA has been detailed in a new technical briefing document published by the Guild of Architectural Ironmongery (GAI).

Coming into effect from 1 January 2023, the change will see many products across the sector requiring the new marking. The document has been created to answer questions people may have about how, when and where to use the marking once it comes into force.

Douglas Masterson, GAI Technical Manager, commented: “We have created this briefing to ensure that our members are clear on the upcoming change and know when to use the new marking, the rules surrounding it and why it has been implemented.”

The Technical Briefing offers details around who can issue UKCA certification, can CE marked products still be used in Great Britain and explores the rules and regulations regarding the branding of products with the markings.
