The main takeaway is that performance was split between a decline in sales for heavy-side producers and continued growth for manufacturers on the light side.

CPA Construction Industry Forecasts - Autumn 2023

The Construction Products Association has forecast that UK construction output is expected to fall by 6.8% in 2023. This is similar to the 7.0% contraction forecast three months ago, before a further marginal fall of 0.3% in 2024.

CPA Construction Industry Forecasts - Summer 2023

The Construction Products Association (CPA) has forecast that construction output will fall by 7.0% in 2023 before recovering slowly in 2024 with growth of just 0.7%.
In its Summer Forecast, the CPA suggests that the demand for both new housing and improvements work will be hit hard due to a flatlining UK economy and further predicted interest rate rises.

The Construction Product Association’s latest forecast predicts output will fall by 6.4% in 2023. This is being driven primarily by sharp falls in activity in the two largest construction sectors, private new housing and private housing repair, maintenance and improvement.

CPA Construction Industry Forecasts - Winter 2022/2023

The Construction Product Association’s latest forecast predicts output will fall by 4.7% in 2023. The largest falls are expected to be in sectors most reliant on households, such as private housing new build and repair, maintenance and improvement, which are expected to offset continued growth in infrastructure and industrial.
