Fire Door Inspection Scheme changes ownership

The British Woodworking Federation (BWF) has taken sole ownership of the Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS).

The Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS) was launched as a joint venture by the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) and the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) in 2012, with the aim of transforming people’s knowledge about how and why fire doors work and the potential dangers of getting it wrong.

The GAI has now sold its share in FDIS to BWF, with BWF taking sole responsibility for the scheme from November 2023.

GAI President Kaz Spiewakowski said: “We are proud of everything we have achieved through FDIS over the last decade.

“Now that the scheme is established, the Guild has taken this decision to focus itself with even greater clarity on its core strategic objectives – driving the professional competency agenda in our sector, educating professionals in the UK and internationally with the skills and knowledge required to meet those standards, and supporting our members with an ever-growing portfolio of services.”
